Erling Haaland continued his remarkable scoring run as Manchester City beat Bournemouth 3-1 to climb into second place in the Premier League.
The Norwegian striker struck twice in the first half, taking his tally to 13 league goals this season and 98 in 107 Premier League appearances. His first came after racing behind Bournemouth’s high defensive line, and he doubled the lead just after the half-hour mark with another clinical finish.
Bournemouth briefly equalised when Tyler Adams capitalised on a fumble from City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, but City quickly regained control.
After the break, academy product Nico O’Reilly sealed the win with his first Premier League goal, finishing neatly from Phil Foden’s assist.
Haaland was substituted late on to a standing ovation, joking afterward that “a few fantasy football managers were unhappy.”
The victory — City’s sixth of the season — moves Pep Guardiola’s side to 19 points, six behind leaders Arsenal, while Bournemouth’s struggles under Andoni Iraola continue despite a spirited performance.
