Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie identified as player allegedly threatened at gunpoint

Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has been revealed as the Premier League footballer allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London.

The incident reportedly took place late on 6 September in Cockfosters, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend. Police were called after an agent allegedly brandished a firearm and made threats. The suspect, a 31-year-old man, was later arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has since been released on bail.

There is no suggestion the agent involved represents Udogie.

The Tottenham defender, who was not on international duty with Italy at the time, returned to play in Spurs’ next match — a Premier League win over West Ham a week later — and started Tuesday’s Champions League game against Copenhagen.

A Spurs spokesperson said: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”

The Metropolitan Police confirmed no injuries were reported and that investigations remain ongoing.
