The jury of the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, led by Garrick Ohlsson, selected 11 pianists for the final round. Polish audiences now place their hopes on Piotr Alexewicz, the only local artist to qualify.

The competition, launched in 1927, remains one of the oldest and most prestigious piano contests in the world. Every participant performs works composed exclusively by Fryderyk Chopin, honoring his enduring musical legacy.

Global Talents Set to Perform in Warsaw

The finalists include Kevin Chen (Canada), David Khrikuli (Georgia), Shiori Kuwahara (Japan), Tianyou Li (China), Eric Lu (United States), Tianyao Lyu (China), Vincent Ong (Malaysia), Miyu Shindo (Japan), Zitong Wang (China), and William Yang (United States).

They will compete alongside Piotr Alexewicz in the final stage of auditions in Warsaw, performing for international recognition and acclaim.

Each pianist will begin with Chopin’s Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61, followed by one of the composer’s two concertos — E minor, Op. 11 or F minor, Op. 21. The National Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Andrzej Boreyka, will accompany the performances.

Prestigious Prize Awaits the Next Chopin Laureate

The winner of the 19th Chopin Competition will earn a €60,000 cash prize and a gold medal, joining a distinguished lineage of past champions.

The final auditions will take place from October 18 to 20, beginning each evening at 6 p.m. in Warsaw’s National Philharmonic Hall.

Music enthusiasts around the world now wait eagerly to see who will become the next great interpreter of Chopin’s timeless works.
